Room with a view

Nyvångshuset is an old forestry workers house located in the middle of the "Natura 2000 area" Fyledalen.

Fyledalen is known to nature lovers and ornithologist all over Europe: It is a beautiful valley at the border to Österlen, close to Tomellila and Sjöbo. This ca. 20 km long valley was formed 15000 years ago as a result of the movements of the inland ice. Fyledalen is an eldorado for bird watching: during migration time many rare birds can be seen crossing over the valley, during the winter birds of prey collect in the valley, and we have several pairs of eagles nesting in the valley.

We rent out our guesthouse all year round whenever none of the family is visiting. It is the only accommodation available directly in the valley. The guesthouse is located in the old washing house and parts of the old stable. We have renovated it with love and care, the results are so that we would like to move there ourselves…

Downstairs, there is a small kitchen area, a private bathroom and a sitting area with a small cast iron stove for comfort and warmth. We have chosen a stone floor with floor heating. Some of the old roof beams from the previous stable could be preserved and tell stories of old times when horses grinded their teeth on them in long winter nights.

The upper level opens to the valley with a window down to the floor, a place for mediation, observation and contemplation. You can relax upstairs and watch the birds, look at the stars at night or get illuminated by our magic moon over the valley. In the back part there are two beds (can be double or twin).

The guest house is meant for 2 persons, but we can put up 2 extra beds if needed.

Fyledalen is a place of silence, interrupted by the sounds of the dressin cycles during the summer and the occasional car.

We are Gesine & Edward and together we speak German, Dutch, Swedish and English. We live together with our three cats (Luna, Sammy and Yoda) in the main building and garden. During the summer we may have a few sheep or horses visiting us. Because of our cats and because we are in a Natural Reserve, dogs should always be on a leash. We do however not allow dogs in the guesthouse for allergy reasons.

The surroundings are of stunning beauty. It takes 20 min to the sea or you can cycle on a dressin from Tomelilla through the valley. For more see "Surroundings".
